"good enough performance" (stagnation) on the pc front. Takes maybe a minute to do, or even faster if you use iTunes to edit the app layout. Then you never have to think about it again.<br /><br />Would a preference to hide them entirely be nice? Perhaps. But really, I just don't see what the big deal is. Once you start down the road of making every aspect of a device customizable, you end up needing a PHD to operate the damn thing.<br /><br />Complainers like to complain.
